Re: Whitby update - local knowledge / advice please
Strange, because the post from Chris M on 7th April has a photo of a sign. When did you last visit?

Re: Whitby update - local knowledge / advice please
What exactly do the signs say? The ones in other car parks are quite specific and say no motorhomes between 11pm and 7 am. They have been in place for years. I always thought the Abbey was the same, but I visited in September last year and there were none there. I am paranoid about getting ticketed,...

Re: Whitby update - local knowledge / advice please
I completely agree. For me, it's doubly galling. From the age of 21 to 50 I rode a motorcycle. Initially, my husband and I had a 250cc and 200cc bikes. We were astonished to find that many campsites wouldn't accept motorcyclists (and when they did, they charged for two vehicles, even though we only ...

Re: Whitby update - local knowledge / advice please
Thanks for the response. As I mentioned in my post, I am aware of the restrictions posted on the NYC website. I've also been frustrated for many years regarding the attitude of Scarborough Borough Council, and so have avoided the area. That's why I was surprised when a friend said there were now no ...

Whitby update - local knowledge / advice please
I've always avoided Whitby, Scarborough etc. since SBC's anti-motorhome campaign of about 12 years ago. I recently visited just to try out my new van. A friend said Whitby Abbey car park no longer had restrictions, so I went with them. I read every line on the signage, checked for any signs that a s...

Re: Regional Campaign Groups
I would like to be involved in the Regional Campaign group
-- But more specifically, I would like to start a Derbyshire campaign group. How do I do that?

Re: Derbyshire Dales District Council- trying again
I've written again, to three councillors, using the recently published template. I wrote to the head of Derbyshire Dales District Council, my local DDDC councillor, who is also the council's representative for Visit Peak District and Derbyshire, and my other local councillor who is on the DDDC car p...

Gainsborough
I recently visited Gainsborough but couldn't park as the car parks that I could find had weight limits. I'd checked for restrictions before visiting, but they weren't mentioned on the car park information. I wrote to the council ( can't copy that here as it was via an on-line form). I received a pro...

Derbyshire Dales District Council- trying again
Two years ago, I approached DDDC and Derbyshire County Council regarding the imminent installation of additional height barriers in Matlock. Almost all car parks in Matlock and Matlock Bath now have barriers, installed in response to the long-term and ongoing problem with illegal traveller encampmen...
